Nestled on the edge of Tremadog Bay where the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia) meet the sea, Porthmadog is one of North Wales's most charming coastal gateways. Known to locals simply as "Port," this vibrant harbour town offers visitors a blend of maritime heritage, dramatic mountain vistas, and vintage steam travel.   The High Street is seconds on foot and boasts lots of independent shops, restaurants, taverns and coffee shops.  

The unique Italianate village of Portmeirion was designed and built by the architect Sir Clough Williams- Ellis between 1925 and 1975 is five minutes away by car or bus.   Portmeirion was modelled on the Italian Riviera using colourful, pastel buildings, a central Piazza and subtropical gardens.   Portmeirion has two lovely coffee shops, The Town Hall restaurant and bar and the luxurious hotel where visitors can enjoy drinks on the terrace overlooking the estuary.
